|The HIE Marketplace is currently under evaluation. More information will be posted as it becomes available.
In 2012-2013, AzHeC administered the Arizona Health Information Exchange (HIE) Marketplace program under the direction of the State of Arizona and the Arizona Strategic Enterprise Technology office (ASET). The Marketplace provided viable options for HIE to all Arizona providers and assisted providers in participating in secure exchange of patient information. A major component of the program was the provision of information and education about Direct Exchange, a secure method of direct electronic communication between providers. This secure messaging approach is made possible by health information service providers (HISPs). AzHeC reviewed applications from HISPs and published an approved HISP vendor list. Direct Exchange Use Cases in AZ
With the help of AzHeC, hundreds of providers in Arizona were registered for Direct Exchange, a secure form of email based upon national standards that protects patient and provider information. Many participating providers found specific uses that saved their practices time, money and frustration compared with the old methods of information exchange, including courier service or fax.
